    Dr. Aesha L. Uqdah (“Dr. A”) is the Associate Vice President of the Health and Well-being Unit.  She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor with a BA in Psychology and received an M.A. in Clinical and Community Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She obtained a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2009 from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Uqdah is a licensed psychologist in Virginia and Kentucky and her clinical interests include multicultural/diversity issues, anxiety & depression, health psychology, and stress management. Dr. Uqdah previously served as the Assistant VP for Student Affairs for Student Well-being at the University of Louisville. There, she served as Director of the Counseling Center, supervised directors of TRIO Student Support Services and Campus Recreation, and served on the Student Affairs Leadership Team.

    In October 2022, after serving 2 years on the governing board, Dr. Uqdah became President-Elect of the Association of University and College Counseling Center Directors (AUCCCD), the largest organization of campus mental health leaders in the world. She was also elected as a member-at-large on the board of directors of the Kentucky Psychological Association (KPA) and served in that role from 2020-2022.  At UofL, Dr. Uqdah served as the chair of the Student Affairs Diversity Committee from 2018 through 2021 and represented the Division of Student Affairs as a member of the University-wide Diversity Council. She worked as a co-leader of UofL's JED Campus initiative, which focuses on student mental health, substance use, and suicide prevention efforts on campus, beginning in 2021.

    In her free time, Dr. Uqdah enjoys cooking, baking, attending live music shows and art/cultural festivals, and spending quality time with family and friends.
